2018 has been another successful year for Mark Neill school of motoring. While the roads are becoming ever busier, the driving test has changed to reflect the challenges we meet in these modern times.

This year has seen for the first time, learner drivers allowed to go onto the the motorways with a fully qualified driving instructor. Personally I think it should have been done a long time ago, but better late than never. I’ve enjoyed introducing learner drivers to the motorway and theres no doubt that it will make them more competent and confident drivers after passing their driving test.

Motorway Driving

Another big change this year has been driving whilst following the satnav. It is a fact of life that in this day and age that we rely more and more on technology. While some people have found following the satnav easy, other people struggle to control the car and look at the satnav. Its usually just a case of practising until each person is confident enough to multitask by glancing at the satnav and keeping the car under control.

Some other changes to the test have included a change to the manoeuvres. Gone is the old left reverse and the 3 point turn. The new manoeuvres are… drive forwards into a parking bay and pull up on the right hand side of the road. Again its reflective of real life.

I’d like to say a big congratulations to all the people that have passed their driving test with Mark Neill school of motoring this year. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to help so many people to get their driving licence.

Good luck and safe driving for 2019
